Kingfisher Bed and Breakfast is a unique property. It is 50% native bush and coastal wetlands. It has the last stand of kahikatea (white pine) on the peninsula. At the base of Harbour Cone, Kingfisher B&B is close to Allan’s Beach with sea lions, seals, yellow eyed penquin & blue penquin, and costal birds. Kingfisher accommodation is close to wildlife attractions such at the Albatross Colony and Taiaroa Head.

“We enjoyed the beauty of the bay and place, best shower in NZ, wonderful breakfast! A very comfortable B&B! Thank you! Aren’t the albatross amazing?!” Jorj and Christrane - Germany

Kingfisher B&B also offer a range of small scale farm animals that can be visited on the property. Guests are welcome to participate in small scale farm life, and collect eggs, visit sheep and cattle. We have a wide range of heritage breed chickens, several purebred Dexter cattle (which are dwarf cattle) and Arapara sheep (a rare New Zealand breed).

Kingfisher B&B is a haven for birdwatchers. Birdlife that can be spotted from the property includes tui, bellbird, kereru (native woodpigeon), pukeko (Australasian Swamphen), hawks, riflemen, grey warbler, pied stilt, paradise duck, shag, royal spoonbill, little German owl, oyster catcher and of course the kingfisher.
